Santa Clara, California (Internet of Things World Forum, Booth 206) - Analog Devices, Inc. (ADI) today announced a joint effort with Microsoft and Hexoskin to develop a unique wearable Internet of Things (IoT) for athlete and team performance management )solution. With the IoT solution, coaches and team members will be able to monitor athlete information such as exercise, heart rate and other useful health and performance indicators from sensor-equipped vests worn by athletes. This information, along with the athlete's location and environmental data, is sent to a cloud-based security analytics platform that analyzes and feeds critical insights to team members through a dashboard. By providing better player intervention advice and improving tactical decisions during the game, the IoT solution can help the team gain a significant competitive advantage. In addition, it can better manage athletes' health, physical recovery and avoid injuries as a whole, benefiting all aspects of athlete management, not limited to a single game. The new IoT solution, including vests and cloud platforms, will be demonstrated at the IST Corporation 206 booth at the Internet of Things World Forum in Santa Clara on May 10-12, 2016.
MarTIn Cotter, vice president of healthcare and consumer business at Analog Devices, said: "ADI is very pleased to be able to lead this program because it involves unique measurement and analysis challenges, and we happen to have the ability to solve challenges. We are interested in Some performance metrics are not fully understood and cannot be measured directly. Therefore, we use our sophisticated detection and algorithm capabilities, as well as our deep experience in biomedical applications, to consider these challenges in different ways and develop unique solutions. I am very happy to work with Microsoft and Hexoskin to solve the challenge. Without them, it is impossible to develop a fully deployable solution."
In addition to ADI's inspection and measurement expertise, the solution also uses Hexoskin's innovative electronic fabric platform, which has won acclaim and extensive validation in the sports and medical industries. Hexoskin president Pierre-Alexandre Fournier said: "Sports organizations are looking for integrated data analytics solutions. Hexoskin has been pursuing compatibility and integration. The project with ADI and Microsoft is a good example of this open spirit."
Microsoft Azure IoT technology leverages the cloud analytics engine and user dashboard applications to help solve analytics and user experience challenges. Jerry Lee, director of product marketing at Microsoft's Azure IoT division, said: "Helping customers quickly and easily leverage the Internet of Things to innovate is a core mission of Microsoft's Azure IoT product. "This wearable smart sweatshirt shows how Azure IoT is based on individual athletes and balls. Team input for advanced analysis and real-time, effective insight. â€
The IoT solution is currently being implemented and tested in partnership with a famous Irish hockey club. “Hockey is a very difficult and demanding team sport, and players must adjust to the best. We think this is one of the most difficult environments to test the technology,†Cotter said.
Although the original prototype was developed for athlete management, the technology has potential applications in a variety of situations where team-based, performance, health, safety, and tactical decisions are critical to success (such as emergency response responders). .
