STMicroelectronics, which is a joint venture between Italy and France, announced on April 7, 2008 that it has established a new headquarters in Greater China (Headquarters For Greater China). The Greater China Circle refers to an area consisting of mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. STMicroelectronics has built an office building in the Zizhu Science Park in Minhang District, Shanghai, which is used as the headquarters of the Greater China Circle. The company will strive to expand its presence in the Greater China region, one of the world's most important regions. In the future, we will focus on research and development.
The construction scale of the Greater China Circle covers an area of ​​20,000 square meters. ST's employees in Shanghai currently have about 400 employees, and the company said that even if it is increased to 1,200, the Greater China headquarters can fully accommodate it.
STMicroelectronics said: "The Greater China Circle currently accounts for around 30% of the company's total global sales and will play a greater role in the future."
The company already has two "Competence Centers" in Shanghai. At the Technology Center, semiconductor designers and application engineers are primarily engaged in product development. One of the two technology centers develops platform software for digital TV, and the other is developing applications for multiple domains.
