Shanghai, China, November 24, 2015 – NXP Semiconductors (NASDAQ: NXPI), a global leader in secure connected automotive solutions, and Tongji University today announced a partnership to support the Shanghai Smart Network Automotive Demonstration Project. Representatives from both sides attended the launching ceremony of the Stella Lux China Innovation Tour for solar home electric vehicles held in Shanghai, and announced the cooperation on the spot.
The Shanghai Intelligent Networked Vehicle Demonstration Project was launched by the Shanghai Municipal Government in October this year. It is one of the 46 pilot demonstration projects under the “Made in China 2025†plan. It is expected to produce 20,000 networked vehicles in 2019. The project is led by Tongji University, and the NXP V2X (vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-infrastructure) technology will be used as a core technology solution for localization in the project. In December last year, NXP and Tongji University reached a strategic partnership to jointly establish a joint laboratory to carry out research and development cooperation on V2X communication technology, and leverage NXP's technological advantages to customize automotive interconnection solutions for the Chinese market.
Mr. Zheng Li, Senior Vice President and President of China at NXP, said : “We are very honored to provide technical support for the Shanghai Intelligent Network Automotive Demonstration Project. China's intelligent transportation industry has broad development potential and is a global leader in safe and connected automotive technology. NXP is looking forward to sharing our successful innovation experience in Europe to the Chinese market, and developing the best security solutions for China's intelligent transportation industry to jointly support the construction of China's intelligent transportation system."
Jiang Bo, vice president of Tongji University, said : “NXP is an industry pioneer in the field of connected vehicles. We are very pleased to see that Tongji University and NXP have made positive progress in the application of automotive interconnect security technology. As a vehicle-to-infrastructure technology With long-term active R&D participants in the field, Tongji University looks forward to working with NXP to bring more localized connected car solutions to China based on national industrial policies and technological development directions."
Mr. Pang Chunlin, Secretary General of the Automotive Information Service Industry Application Alliance (TIAA), said : "NXP has the leading international innovation and industrialization capabilities. We hope that the cooperation between NXP and China's industrial units such as Chelian and Tongji University will continue to deepen and produce as soon as possible. In line with the actual results of China's industry and market, it provides a vigorous driving force for the development of China's smart car industry."
Connected cars and intelligent transportation infrastructure will effectively solve the problems of traffic congestion and environmental pollution caused by population growth. As a global technology leader in the field of secure connected vehicles, NXP is actively involved in the earliest V2X technology trials and was the first to introduce the first connected car solution in 2013, with its RoadLINK solution always leading the V2X ecosystem. The NXP V2X chip product consists of a software system and a security component that not only provides the highest level of communication and data security protection for connected cars, but also enables wireless communication between vehicles, vehicles, and transportation infrastructure to reduce collisions. Alert potential hazards and avoid traffic jams to improve road safety. In 2014, NXP announced that it will supply V2X chips to Delphi Automotive, which will be mass-produced for the first time and will be used in GM for the first time next year.
About V2X technology
V2X technology, that is, vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-infrastructure technology, greatly enhances road safety and improves traffic by providing drivers with timely traffic warnings, including dangerous road conditions, sudden congestion, traffic rescue or road work sites. effectiveness. The V2X technology platform enables traffic jams or traffic risks to be detected before the naked eye is detected and the driver assistance system is detected, and alerts are sent to hundreds of meters. Safe V2X technology is critical to future unmanned and intelligent transportation systems. According to a survey by the US Department of Transportation, safe and reliable V2X technology will reduce traffic accidents by more than 80%. Vehicles equipped with V2X interconnected devices can also receive information from smart road signals and automatically identify the running hours of traffic lights.
