The LTC2379-18 is a low noise, low power, high speed 18-bit successive approximation register (SAR) ADC. The LTC2379-18 operates from a single 2.5V supply and has a fully differential input range of ±VREF (VREF varies from 2.5V to 5.1V). The LTC2379-18 consumes only 18mW of power and achieves ±2LSB INL (maximum), no missing codes (at 18 bits) and 101.2dB SNR.
The LTC2379-18 features a high-speed SPI-compatible serial interface that supports 1.8V, 2.5V, 3.3V, and 5V logic, as well as a daisy-chain mode. The high throughput rate and cycle-free latency of 1.6Msps make the LTC2379-18 ideal for many high-speed applications. An internal oscillator is responsible for setting the conversion time, which alleviates external timing considerations. The LTC2379-18 automatically powers down between conversion operations, reducing the power consumption that is regulated with the sample rate.
The LTC2379-18 features a unique digital gain compression (DGC) feature that eliminates the negative supply of the driver amplifier and maintains the full resolution of the ADC. When enabled, the ADC performs a digital scaling function that converts the zero-scale code from 0V to 0.1?VREF and the full-scale code from VREF to 0.9?VREF. For a typical 5V reference, the full-scale input range is now 0.5V to 4.5V, which provides enough peak reserve for powering the driver amplifier from a single 5.5V supply.
