AXIS and XL sign Indonesia's first national roaming agreement
Jakarta, Indonesia, November 13, 2009-AXIS and PT Excelcomindo Pratama Tbk (XL) today signed Indonesia's first MOU on national roaming. The technical implementation of the agreement will comply with the regulations of the Indonesian regulator. Similar to other partnerships formed between mobile operators, Indonesian regulators have also supported this cooperation plan between AXIS and XL. Through this agreement, AXIS customers will be able to access all XL networks in Sumatra, followed by the networks of Kalimantan and Sulawesi. Regardless of whether they roam the network infrastructure of XL, AXIS will be able to control all its users.
The agreement will take effect in the first quarter of 2010, and AXIS's active nationwide network expansion of voice and data will continue in parallel. Since AXIS has leased a large portion of the communications tower from XL's product portfolio, the agreement strengthens the existing partnership between the two parties.
AXIS President and CEO Erik Aas said: "This agreement is of great significance to Indonesia. It not only provides more mobile service options and lower prices for the entire Indonesia, but also accelerates market development." Added: "The Indonesian mobile industry has undergone rapid changes and we will continue to promote the development of the wireless market through innovation. This agreement with XL is a typical example of this innovation. The global roaming agreement is extremely proud of such a strong leadership. "
XL President Hasnul Suhaimi said of the cooperation: "Despite the competitive relationship between XL and AXIS, we are still very happy to cooperate to provide a better mobile service experience for Indonesian users. We believe that through the cooperation agreement with AXIS, we will be able to To provide continuous and high-quality services to both customers, they can also make full use of our rich network capabilities. "
