In May, the Ministry of Commerce held two meetings to discuss the inclusion of the polysilicon industry in the “two high†list. Today, it is learned that restrictions on polysilicon have been initially determined.
Prior to this, insiders of the Ministry of Commerce disclosed that the inclusion of polysilicon on the "two high" list has not yet been finalized, but only at the discussion stage. Informed sources revealed that it is now almost settled, and only sent a message.
"The restrictions on polysilicon have also been basically determined, that is, it is not allowed to export polysilicon products and processing trade," said informed sources.
In 2009, the domestic polysilicon production was about 20,000 tons, still need about half of imports. And domestic polysilicon products have low quality and poor quality. Therefore, the Ministry of Commerce's restriction measures are considered to have limited impact on the polysilicon industry in the short term.
However, Wu Deng, deputy director of the Photovoltaic Committee of the China Renewable Energy Society, believes that this is indeed the case, but in the future, if the quantity and quality of polysilicon products in China go up, then the impact of limiting exports will be different.
