Recently, Foshan Inspection and Quarantine Bureau issued a “Certificate of Origin for the China-Costa Rica Free Trade Agreement†for a trading company in Chancheng District. Tariffs are exported to Costa Rica and tariffs for lamps and lanterns are reduced from a maximum of 6% to zero.
This is the first preferential certificate of export Costa Rica issued by Foshan enterprises. Thanks to the preferential certificate of origin issued by the Foshan Inspection and Quarantine Bureau, the goods worth nearly 20,000 U.S. dollars can enjoy Costa Rica’s tariff reduction after arriving in Costa Rica. The Foshan Inspection and Quarantine Bureau revealed that goods that have been shipped for export but arrived in Costa Rica after August 1, 2011 may apply for the reissuance of the “China-Costa Rica Free Trade Agreement Preferential Origin Certificate†and may also enjoy tax reductions and exemptions.
Our country is Costa Rica’s second largest trading partner. Costa Rica and China signed the "China-Costa Rica Free Trade Agreement" and officially implemented it on August 1, 2011. According to reports, with the formal implementation of the China-Got Free Trade Agreement, China and Costa Rica will implement zero-tariff on more than 90% of their products in phases, and the tariffs on traditional products such as textile raw materials exported from Foshan will be reduced from 10% to zero. Tariffs have dropped from a maximum of 6% to zero, most of the small household appliances have zero tariffs, and tariffs on building ceramics, toys, and clothing have dropped from 15% year-on-year to zero. The implementation of the China-Got Free Trade Agreement has created favorable conditions for Foshan enterprises to explore the Costa Rican market.
