Market research firm WitsView's latest survey data show that in August 2010, the global shipment of large-size TFT-LCD panels reached 51.79 million, only a slight increase of 2% from July. Among them, the shipments of LCD TV panels and 12.1 inches or more notebook PCs in August increased by less than 5% month-on-month, and the display panel shipments decreased by 4.6%. This is mainly due to the early second quarter of the machine manufacturers due to advance stocking, resulting in high liquid crystal panel inventory.
Looking ahead, WitsView stated that under the condition that the upstream and downstream inventory of the supply chain is still to be digested, the panel maker has started to reduce production and tighten supply, and reduce its own inventory. At present, it is still unable to reverse the downward trend of panel prices in the short term. However, due to the upcoming year-end season is approaching, the complete machine company is bound to increase its promotional efforts in order to reach the annual shipping target, and will also promote the shipment of LCD panels.
