Through the disassembly of this article, we can see the architecture design and components used in the solar inverter motherboard: starting from the DC input of the solar panel, through the DC-AC conversion process, to the AC output delivered to the grid, and this design needs to be realized. What features are available to meet a wide range of safety and other performance standards, as well as the stringent requirements of power manufacturers for signals entering their grids.
We take a typical solar inverter SMA "Sunny Boy" as an example to see the main components and component options in the design, from Vishay's EMI suppression capacitors to TI's TMS320F2812 DSP. The design places special emphasis on isolation and protection, and wisely uses optically isolated MOSFET gate drivers such as Avago's HCPL-316J and HCPL-312J.
