On October 12th, the signing ceremony of ±80kV 60MW high-voltage DC HVDC power transmission demonstration project of West Electric and Korean LS Power Company, Jeju Island, South Korea, was held at the headquarter of China West Power. The deputy general manager of China West Power, Yang Baolin, general manager of West Power International, and Cui Zhongxiong, vice president of South Korea's LS Power Generation, signed the agreement on behalf of both parties, which marked the official start of the first overseas DC project of China West Power. Xi Defeng, deputy chief engineer of China West Power Co., Ltd. Shen Yuzhang, general manager of Xidian Electric Division, Ban Jian, general manager of West Electric Power Systems, Yan Jiayuan, general secretary of West Power International Party, and Yu Wenxuan, deputy general manager attended the signing ceremony.
The owner of the project is Korea National Electric Power Company (KEPCO). The project is located in Jeju Island in the southwest of South Korea. It includes two converter stations (W/F and C/S) and 8 km of DC transmission lines (including 7 km of overhead lines, buried Cable 1 km) connects the wind farm on the southwestern sea of ​​Jeju Island to the converter station. China XD took charge of supplying complete sets of thyristor converter valves, smoothing reactors, arresters, and DC open-circuit switches in the core of the DC.
