After warming up a number of products from various manufacturers yesterday, AMD finally announced the Fusion APU Fusion Acceleration Processor that was prepared for many years at the time of the opening of CES 2011, and also announced the official bring of the fusion era.
AMD Fusion APU is divided into two series. Now available is a low-power version based on Bobcat processor architecture and DX11 GPU graphics core. Up to two processor cores are manufactured using TSMC's 40nm process. AMD claims that the Bobcats is the first new x86 core since 2003 and is designed for low-power portable devices.
AMD Fusion APU first platform platform codenamed "Brazos", also known as "2011 low-power platform", the chipset using a single chip design Hudson-M1, the processor includes two sub-series:
- Zatcate E series: E-350 1.6GHz dual-core, E-240 1.5GHz single core, thermal design power consumption of 18W, for mainstream notebooks, one machine, small desktop - Ontario C series: C-50 1.0GHz dual-core, C-30 1.2GHz single core, thermal design power consumption 9W, for high-definition netbooks, tablet and other emerging devices AMD Fusion APU main HD applications, including DX11 games, online video, Blu-ray programs, etc., and these are thanks to its VISION vision engine includes DX11 graphics core, UVD3 video decoding engine, parallel processing acceleration, integrated graphics driver and more.
AMD also proposed the new power management concept “AllDayâ€, claiming that AMD Fusion technology can bring around-the-clock battery standby with up to 10 hours of battery life or even longer.
AMD Fusion APU has received widespread support from a large number of hardware and software vendors throughout the industry. All of them are currently or soon to release various related products at cost-effective or mainstream prices.
Equipment Vendor Support: Acer, Asus, Dell, Fujitsu, HP, Lenovo, MSI, Samsung, Sony, Toshiba Motherboard Manufacturer Support: ASUS, Gigabyte, MSI, Sapphire Software Vendor Support: Adobe, ArcSoft, Codemasters, Corel, CyberLink, DivX EA/BioWare, Earthsim, Firaxis, Gazillion, Microsoft IE, Microsoft Windows, Nuvixa, Roxio, SEGA, Turbine, Viewdle, Vivu
About half a year later, AMD will also launch a high-performance version of the L10 based on the K10 processor architecture, DX11 graphics card-level graphics core, up to four processor cores, GlobalFoundries 32nm process manufacturing. AMD revealed that the Llano APU processor will be named A series and will form the "2011 mainstream platform."
